--Ow! M-man, how long has it been?

Guess I shouldn't have left this thing in my coat pocket... Oh, hey, Watari, I'm running low on canned soup up here. Do you have any lying around? It's good for fevers, right?

Hisoka, want a glass of water? Blanket? Bedtime story? ♥ Don't worry, you'll be feeling better soon~!

...Seemed like longer, for Muraki.

Most of the things that have happened when people's powers went rogue lasted - well, half a week or so, usually. I'm not sure all of ...that... was Muraki's powers going wild.

What else would it have been?

It is Muraki. It could have been deliberate.

That wouldn't explain why he backed it off later. I'm not saying he usually makes sense, but even for him... there's no logic there.

[identity profile] cinnagami.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
...yeah, you're right. [He managed a smile, crossing his arms.] All I know is that most of these things don't last more than a few days.

We'll see, though, right?

Soon enough. [Another shudder and he grasped the garbage bin reflexively, waiting for it to pass.]

[Concerned, Tsuzuki reached over to pat Hisoka's back as the spasm passed.]

Yeah.

[Hisoka took several deep breaths, then swallowed, not looking at Tsuzuki.] ...Tsuzuki, what exactly did Joshua do to Muraki?

[commentlog]

[identity profile] cinnagami.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 08:25 am (UTC)(link)
[He paused for a moment, surprised at the change of subject - but of course Hisoka would want to know, right?]

I... don't know exactly what he did. Something to his mind.... I think he reminded him of something in his past.

Whatever it was, it was bad. I don't think I've ever seen Muraki afraid before.

[Not even when he'd been dying on the floor. Tsuzuki flinched away from that memory.] He threatened to do it again if Muraki... did anything else.

[Hisoka sighed. He'd work out how he felt about all this when he wasn't still feeling nauseous.]

That matches up with Joshua's story. Though he didn't mention that last bit.

[identity profile] cinnagami.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 08:32 am (UTC)(link)
...He wouldn't. I think he likes making himself sound worse than he is, or something like that. [He shrugged; Joshua was kind of weird, but he wasn't about to complain about the man who'd saved him from Muraki.]

[commentlog]

[identity profile] refracted-green.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 08:34 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think he'd like hearing you say that. [Even if it was true. Maybe. Joshua hadn't exactly been earning himself points lately, in Hisoka's book.]

Anyway, it explains why Muraki's been so quiet.

[commentlog]

[identity profile] cinnagami.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, probably not. Is that blanket warm enough? [Hisoka didn't look like he was shivering anymore. That was a good sign....]

I prefer him that way... well, as long as he's not planning something. I don't think he is this time.

[commentlog]

[identity profile] refracted-green.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
...It's fine. Stop hovering, Tsuzuki. I'm not dying. [...Anymore. Whoops.]

...Anyway, we'd better hope he's not planning anything. We can't make another deal with Joshua; we don't have anything else to give him. And he's the only one we know of powerful enough to intimidate Muraki.

[commentlog]

[identity profile] cinnagami.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 10:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Tsuzuki didn't respond to that aloud. A smile would do.]

He did say that he'd go after Muraki if Muraki did anything else... and I think most of the things Muraki would be planning count.

You don't think he'll want anything in return?

[commentlog]

[identity profile] cinnagami.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
For following up on a threat he's already made? He might bring it up if he needs a favor from us, but no, otherwise I don't think so.

[You trust people too easily, Hisoka wanted to say. Especially him. Especially that vampire. But he didn't feel up for an argument right now.] I think you overestimate his goodwill.

[commentlog]

[identity profile] cinnagami.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 10:19 am (UTC)(link)
Nah. This wouldn't be goodwill - I mean, I don't really know Joshua that well, but do you think he'd let somebody get away with ignoring a threat he'd made?

[He rested his hands on his knees, watching Hisoka out of the corner of his eye.]

[commentlog]

[identity profile] refracted-green.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Hisoka glanced at Tsuzuki, then away.]

...Maybe not. But that doesn't mean he wouldn't try to cut a deal on the side that would benefit him as well.

[commentlog]

[identity profile] cinnagami.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 10:32 am (UTC)(link)
[He turned towards his partner, curiosity written openly on his face.] Why are you so worried about Joshua? He's not that bad a guy....

[commentlog]

[identity profile] refracted-green.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 10:38 am (UTC)(link)
[Hisoka did not answer at first. If he was truthful with himself, he didn't know if he wanted to tell Tsuzuki or not, the subject of their last conversation and how much Joshua knew. He figured Tsuzuki would probably have the same reaction part of him did in retrospect, anyway--that it didn't really matter. That if Joshua planned to use it, he would've already.

But that didn't give Joshua, of all people, the right to know. And Hisoka didn't have to like that he knew.]

...I don't trust him.

[commentlog]

[identity profile] cinnagami.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
[Hisoka had good instincts, empathy or no, and Tsuzuki was used to taking his partner's word on trustworthiness. He frowned.]

Why not? Did he do something, or...?

[commentlog]

[identity profile] refracted-green.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 10:47 am (UTC)(link)
[Hisoka had the sudden urge to move, to take a walk; anything but stay here and feel sick and talk about Joshua. His brief attempt to stand was thwarted immediately by his shaky limbs, so he eased back down and settled for staring at the garbage bin like it had personally wronged him instead.]

...He knows a lot about us, and we don't know a lot about him.

[It was one of the myriad, but Tsuzuki hadn't asked him to list the reasons.]
