Oh hey, I haven't used this thing in a while, have I? ...Somebody said something about shocks the other day...

--looks like it's not shocking me, though! Haha, safe. So! Uh. I had a reason to post this, actually. Anybody around here know if there's somewhere I can crash? It looks like I'm not getting sent home anytime soon, and trying to find spots in those buildings without monsters just isn't working out great for me. It doesn't have to be nice or anything! Just, you know. Someplace where I don't have to sneak away from those stupid dog things at two in the morning.

And does all the food around here come in cans or from the soup kitchen? ...Um, that is to say. Anywhere a guy might be able to barter for some pie~?

.. It is. And they get everywhere, and wings take forever to dry if they get soaked. And there's not enough sun here to really dry them out well.

It is kind of foggy out there... how do you usually deal with them? Do they, you know, keep molting whether or not they're visible...?

.. It's kind of complicated. When we hide them, it's kind of like making them not exist, but it's not natural and it can be uncomfortable. And it takes energy and concentration, so if we get flustered or upset or angry, they can.. appear again.

Anyway, that's boring, isn't it? You keep pushing the subject away from yourself. Do you not like talking about you?

...Well, I'm not all that interesting! Though, I guess, if there's anything you want to ask....

You say that even though you apparently do things you're not supposed to talk about and visit spirit worlds and know tengu? I'd love to know what your definition of 'interesting' is, then.

Well, on the day-to-day level, it's kind of a boring office job. Usually. And I just met the tengu, I don't know them all that well.

An office job that sends you to spirit worlds. And I don't know any tengu, so I'm sort of jealous. I'll bet Chihaya would get along well with them. He's always worrying about his wings and accidentally getting seen by humans.

He might! Is he a friend of yours back home? ...They seemed to be pretty serious guys. Not as bad as Sohryuu, but kind of stonefaced, you know?

... Well, it's not a normal office job, but you'd think it was from all the paperwork.

Well.. paperwork has to get done, I suppose. Still, your job sounds interesting if it sends you places like that.

A... friend of mine. Sort of a friend. ...Acquaintance. He's not that friendly. Really? We work in pairs too - hope my partner doesn't kill me for vanishing on him in the middle of a job. He just got assigned to me, and he already seems like a pretty violent guy....

Someone told me that my partner was once here, and I never noticed him missing, so I don't think yours will notice you missing, either. .. I'm kind of the violent one between Chihaya and I. But I'm also the one that cooks and cleans and makes sure our reports are in on time, so he doesn't get to complain when I yell at him.

I suppose so, yes. I wouldn't want Chihaya to miss me, anyway. He gets into trouble on his own.

I suppose so. Yes. .. I think I like mine, but I hate it at the same time. So.. I guess I can understand that.

They are, but really, they're just the most powerful beings in the Illusionary World. It's not as impressive as it sounds!

...What do angels do, anyway?

Well.. lots of things. Chihaya and I are checkers. He's a plus-checker, so he records humanity's virtues. I'm a minus-checker, so I.. I look for all of their sins.

How can you calculate virtue and sin for a whole species? I mean... I've met some very good people, and some very bad ones. They're counted together?

Ah, it's.. more about the evidence itself. Wicked people will generally reveal themselves in some manner, whereas good people's virtues will normally outweigh their sins. I ignore the good parts of people when I do my job-- I have to, because it's Chihaya's duty to catch those things.

...Doesn't sound like a very-- pleasant job. It's depressing enough when you don't ignore the good parts.

I won't lie, it's really hard to see humans the way Chihaya does. Intellectually, I know that they're not all bad, and in fact, most people are pretty decent. But it's hard to feel that way when I'm seeing the rapists, abusive husbands, murderers, and all the various other terrible things that people do to one another.

I'm sorry, I'm really not trying to be arrogant or anything. I mean, it's like I said-- I know that most humans are good people. It's just.. hard.
