Ow, my head--

So, uh. Sorry to worry you guys! You can ignore that thing the other day... this stupid thing wasn't supposed to turn on.

I'm just fine, really! Though I'm gonna have to spring for a new coat whenever I get home... man, dry-cleaning isn't gonna cut it for this kind of stuff.

That aside... uh, well, since I'm in the hospital anyway, you guys need help? I can wrap bandages with the best!

[Tsuzuki only shook his head, the old pillows keeping him from leaning back any further. Why him? Of all people the scientists could have brought here? What were they thinking?]

[He fumbled for his communicator. Someone had to warn them - the police at least, if not everyone. At least Watari--]

[ Muraki, of course, knows Tsuzuki well enough to anticipate this move. With a chuckle, he takes the shinigami's communicator for himself and tuts disapprovingly. ]

Not so fast, Tsuzuki-san. I can't allow you to spoil our little reunion so quickly.

[ His hand is still on Tsuzuki's face and he tilts the purple-eyed man's face towards him. ]

Your eyes are still so beautiful, untouched by the flames of your little shikigami... [ he pauses and then chuckles lightly ]

Are you worried, Tsuzuki-san?

[Tsuzuki shuddered at the reminder. For a moment, he could feel Touda's flames again, the searing pain, Hisoka in his arms as they both waited for true death - no. He shook it off, another violent shudder, and lunged for his communicator.]

Shut up, Muraki!

[ Lunging was a bad move in this case. The movement only allows Muraki the chance to catch Tsuzuki in his arms as it fails to achieve its intended goal. Chuckling again, Muraki then whispers warningly in Tsuzuki-san's ear. ]

Do not presume to be able to dictate me, Tsuzuki-san. [ pause, smile ] Or to be able to read the very gears in my mind. Aged like a good wine you might be, your seniority affords you little advantage over me.

[ Muraki briefly closes his eyes then, focusing on the sweet nectar of power he knows exists within Tsuzuki. He feels nothing, much to his dismay, but doesn't let on this fact. Instead, he releases Tsuzuki and steps away. ]

My chief interest still lies within you, Tsuzuki-san. The people of this place do not interest me yet-- [ he looks around nonchalantly for emphasis, before turning those silver eyes on the shinigami again. ]

Of course, if you do not wish to be subject of such devoted interest [ Obsession, he thinks with a trace of amusement. ] I hope you realize that I will take that as a sign to move on to... greener pastures, if you will. [ laugh ] If such a thing does exist in a god-forsaken place like this!

[ An angelic smile replaces the cunning look on his face. ]

What do you think?

[A threat. Tsuzuki paled, eyes fixed on the slim white figure. He had expected as much - but not so soon, not with the trade implied: him, or the rest of the city. There wasn't anything he could say - no return threats he could make, crippled as he was. And he couldn't protect them in any other way.]

[Almost, crazily, he wished for a knife. But even if he had one, here, it would do no good.]

If you hurt anyone else here... [his voice trailed off for a moment. What?]

If you hurt anyone else here, I'll make sure you spend the rest of your stay behind a locked door.

[His hands twisted nervously in the sheets, belying his confident tone.]

[ Muraki laughs openly at the childish threat. ]

Like a man that drowns in a river you would grasp the barest of sticks in an attempt to console yourself, wouldn't you? That warning does little against me-- but much for you, I imagine.

[ He chuckles and his eyes narrow as he drinks in the fear present in the shinigami's wounded frame. ]

A threat even a child learns not to fear... made by a child. It is an amusing attempt, nevertheless.

I appreciate it, Tsuzuki-san.

[ He laughs again, but briefly. ]

In time, we shall see the fervor behind those words.

[ Muraki turns his back on Tsuzuki then, his long white coat fluttering behind him as he did so. ]

I anticipate it.

[ ooc; :o Muraki will have one more word for you, Tsuzuki, before he leaves... but after your comment ♥ :) ]

[Tsuzuki stared for a moment, hardly able to believe that Muraki was leaving. Leaving... to do what? He struggled out of the bed. Despite his brave words, his legs were weak, and the movement exhausted him. Damn the timing. Damn it. He glared, one hand white-knuckled on the railing at the end of the bed to hold himself upright.]

Don't hurt anyone here, Muraki. I won't let you.

[He stared at the man with all the force in his gaze that his weak, magic-less body lacked.]

[ Muraki was walking away, but when he hears those words from the bedridden Tsuzuki, he stops and turns a little; just enough for him to be able to meet Tsuzuki's eyes effectively. ]

Are you going to warn people about me, Tsuzuki-san?

[ The question is followed by a beat of silence, as if Muraki is waiting for an answer... but then he breaks into a laugh before continuing in a further amused tone. ]

Do you know how the moth continues to fly around the bright flames, knowing very well the peril that lies in wait for it should its tiny wings come too close to it? The thrill of danger often attracts all the more...

Reverse psychology, you see?

[ He smiles enigmatically then. ]

My interest lies in you, of course, but I can't possibly deny someone attention if they insist on troubling me. Remember that, Tsuzuki-san.

[Tsuzuki's teeth clenched. He remained silent: no, there were ways around that - warn the ones Muraki dealt with, talk to the other policemen, keep an eye on him... he'd need Watari's help with that, and maybe even Terazuma's. He wasn't going to give Muraki any hints of what to look for.]

[Still defiant, he kept glaring.]
