Has anyone seen Hisoka?

[a skip in the recording, then he clears his throat]

...And does anyone know how to tell when someone's gone home?

Oh, it's simple, really. Survive, learn from their losses, and impress me.

Hardly any last a few years after their death. Must be the ticker that does it.

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] cinnagami.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 08:26 am (UTC)(link)
Simple, but it doesn't sound like something most people would find... easy.

I've gotten off track for questions we can both answer, haven't I? - Want to switch to one question apiece?

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] holyjesusbeams.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
Of course it isn't. If it wasn't so selective, Shibuya would end up like Discedo.

You haven't even kept me to my own game, on top of that. Fifty-eight. Shame on you.

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] cinnagami.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 08:31 am (UTC)(link)
Destroyed?

That was in trade for "who gets to enter your game." ♥ And you're awfully young for... the position it sounds like you've got, aren't you?

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] holyjesusbeams.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 08:36 am (UTC)(link)
...Static. Life and death would have no meaning. The winners are revived.

Not at all! Granted, I've no idea how old my predecessor was, but consider what I've just told you. If it's rare to live past your thirties overall, it's even rarer to hold a position for that long after death. I suppose we have more on the line, where I come from.

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] cinnagami.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 08:41 am (UTC)(link)
I wondered if that's what you were implying.

Your world's pretty dog-eat-dog. Mine's... well, it's more about following the rules. Making sure death happens on schedule, and as intended.

We don't bring people back to life. The most they can get is an extension. And you don't want to know how many favors I owe the Earl over that, believe me.

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] holyjesusbeams.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 08:48 am (UTC)(link)
Mmhm~ One in my position can't be soft, else it upsets the balance of things, but unfortunately many of the Players don't understand that.

Oh, we follow rules! Mine, for the most part, and that's what leaves the breathing room. Though I won't deny the dog-eat-dog - Reapers are erased if they don't erase enough Players to sustain themselves, after all.

It makes it sound so droll, sorry for me saying so. Earl~?

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] cinnagami.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
So, instead, you give them a chance to earn their lives back.

E-erased, huh? The worst that happens to us is getting a bonus docked. But then, we don't get involved with people after their deaths very often at all.

- The Earl runs the Castle of Candles. He's the one who determines the moment of death.

Oh, no, they still complain. Even after death, so many think that everyone wins in life.

The people that survive but aren't chosen instead live a double-life as a Reaper - completely normal in the RG, "Real Ground" and special abilities in the UG, "Underground". That's the price they pay - renewed life at the cost of their humanity, since there are strings attached. Of course, it all depends on how philosophically you look at it.

Hm, you have someone that determines that? Fascinating.

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] cinnagami.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 09:07 am (UTC)(link)
...Doesn't sound like a bad shake to me.

But your Reapers don't have anything to do with death itself, do they? All of what you're talking about... happens after someone dies.

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] holyjesusbeams.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 09:11 am (UTC)(link)
Why, thank you. I don't know much about other districts, but it seems I cut a better deal than most.

You mean killing someone that isn't already dead? Well, there's nothing to stop them from being murderers, but it has nothing to do with the job. It won't earn them any points.

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] cinnagami.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 09:15 am (UTC)(link)
...

Not what the job means in my world, no.

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] holyjesusbeams.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 09:19 am (UTC)(link)
So I gathered. Reapers, in other words, only have legal control over erasure, not death. It's a different job description entirely.

Murder is only murder if it's two living people in the living world. It doesn't count if you're taking away something you don't have, yourself. Therefore, for my Reapers, who exist under the rules of the living, it's a crime. In your case, it's just another cog in the system.

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] cinnagami.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 09:24 am (UTC)(link)
Mm. Well, then - pick a question, Joshua. I'm running out of things to say.

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] holyjesusbeams.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 09:26 am (UTC)(link)
It sounds like your occupation bothers you.

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] cinnagami.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 09:30 am (UTC)(link)
Let's say my resignation letter didn't quite go through.

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] holyjesusbeams.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 09:31 am (UTC)(link)
...You're not allowed a choice?

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] cinnagami.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 09:40 am (UTC)(link)
We're not allowed to change our minds.

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] holyjesusbeams.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 09:41 am (UTC)(link)
...Well, I suppose I can see that.

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] cinnagami.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
Seems unfair of me to ask you to pick a new subject twice in a row, so.

How'd you get your job?

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] holyjesusbeams.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 09:49 am (UTC)(link)
There's only one way to become Composer, and that is to dethrone the previous one.

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] cinnagami.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 09:54 am (UTC)(link)
You fought for it, huh?

Honestly... I'm impressed.

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] holyjesusbeams.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
Even without the title of Composer, I had quite a bit of firepower. What can I say?

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] cinnagami.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
And ambition, sounds like.

[voice; japanese | private]

[identity profile] holyjesusbeams.livejournal.com 2009-06-10 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, stop it. You'll make me blush.
